Crescent Ice Skating Rink

Opening Soon!

We make lifetime memories,” said Jack Moyer, vice president and general manager of the 1886 Crescent Hotel & Spa, a mountaintop spa resort located here and a proud member of Historic Hotels of America, “and that is the reason why our hotel decided to add a ‘frozen pond’ in the area that hosts hundreds of weddings during warmer seasons.  Financially, adding an ice skating rink might not be the best decision, however with guests now traveling year-round to our resort hotel and with a gap of activities for our local kids during the winter months, we thought this might be a perfect way to further connect the hotel to our community while adding an additional resort activity for our guests.”

The Crescent Hotel Ice Rink will be open daily from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. for an open skate.  Local children, age 12 and under, from Carroll County can skate for free.  All adults, all teens, as well as children who live outside the specified local area will be charged $5.00 each per day.  For all hotel guests, adults and children, the fee is included in their Crescent Hotel Resort Pass.  There are a limited number of skates available for rent, included with admission.  Up to 20 skaters can be on the ice at any one time.  Moyer noted that individuals wishing to donate skates to this community project will receive a 2017-2018 season pass for free skating.

“We are also creating a festive environment adjacent to the rink,” Moyer added, “with a nightly fire as well as tables and chairs where the community can gather.  SkyBar Gourmet Pizza will provide food service for this area if folks want to make it an evening.  The Crescent Hotel Ice Rink will also be available for private party rentals in times other than those of the open skate, based upon availability, for $100 per hour.”

The Crescent Hotel expects the rink to be in operation annually all days when the temperature is below 40 degrees.  Original opening date was scheduled for December 26.  However, due to the temperature not dropping as quickly or as low as originally forecasted, the opening will now be sometime before the end of the year.  Moyer explained that once the rink is ready for skating and the actual opening date has been reset, the new opening date will be posted on the hotel’s Facebook page.  The plan is to have the Crescent’s 2017-2018 ice skating season run from opening day through the end of February.

“This seems like a perfect fit for our resort hotel and our community,” concluded Moyer, “and I am so enthused about the great amount of local support we have already received.  We want every kid from Eureka Springs and our county plus our pre-teen hotel guests to say that one of their favorite lifetime memories was skating on the Crescent Hotel Ice Rink.”
