Holiday Engagements Expected To Hit All-Time High in December 2016; Start Planning During Holidays

For the lady who receives an engagement ring during the winter holidays, she need not wait for the robins or the daffodils to start planning.  In fact, experts say during the winter months just may the best time to begin planning a wedding set for any time of the year.  One such wedding destination that can attest to this is the romantic village of Eureka Springs, located in the Arkansas Ozarks.

“Eureka Springs is known as ‘The Wedding Capital of The South’.  As such, the community will see nearly 3,000 weddings per year,” explained Jodie English, Director of Sales at the historic 1886 Crescent Hotel and Spa and 1905 Basin Park Hotel.  “In fact our two hotels will be the site for more than 300 wedding events each year.  Part of that reason is our 130-year heritage of romance.  The other major reason is that we are but minutes away from the iconic Thorncrown Chapel.  And during the first couple months of the year, following so many diamonds being placed on ring fingers during holidays, Eureka becomes the wedding planning capital of the south.”

English listed a few of the reasons why early planning during the winter months is so advantageous.  “One obvious reason is that these venues are exclusive however now there are more dates from which to choose to reserve one of Eureka Springs’ iconic venues; so very important.  For example, there is only one Crescent Hotel with its ‘extraordinary spaces and places’ and only one Thorncrown Chapel.  That perfect date coupled with that perfect place once fulfilled creates the bedrock foundation for that dream wedding.”

Other winter planning advantages that English mentioned include:

> Site visits tend to be more relaxed when other events are not underway at that chosen venue.  The bride-to-be garners all the attention.

> The farther out a date is set makes it easier for family and friends to build that “save the date” it into their annual schedule.  In fact many brides turn their wedding event into a multi-day family and friends reunion of sorts.  An earlier set date, allows friends and family members to utilize a few vacation days to enjoy it to the fullest.

English added, “Our friends at The Knot thought of a few more.”

>Relaxing with family over the holidays allows greater ease in building the “wedding timetable”.

>There is ample, uninterrupted time to dream the dream of that fantasy wedding.  Nothing is off the table at this point.  Plenty of time to whittle down choices and ideas as/if needed.

>Early budgeting allows for a range of money to be considered in producing that fantasy wedding.  Plus, it is never too early to start saving to meet that range.

>No better way not to forget “Uncle Charlie” or “Aunt Michele” when they are sitting across from you at the holiday table.  The “right before you” friends and relatives might be a good source to connecting to guests who should be invited.  So this is a good time to begin making a list and checking it twice.

>You are going to be in dozens of stores during this time of year anyway, why not look for stores and items where you could register for those much appreciated, perfect wedding gifts.

>Now that you have that sparkling “rock” on your hand, a call to your insurance provider might not be a bad idea in order to get that ring insured.  Things happen!

“These suggested planning items do not represent a finite list by any means,” concluded English, “but it is a good place to start while you have time and you are surrounded by loving family and friends who would love to help in the planning.  Just remember it is your wedding and you should have final say.”

If Visiting Branson This Holiday Season, Capture The Sparkling Gem Just Minutes Away: Eureka Springs, Arkansas

ChristOfTheOzarks _ wNativity _ 2016 _ Jill Rohrbach _ 300

(EUREKA SPRINGS, AR) — You’ve loaded up the family car and are heading to Branson, Missouri to take in all the glitz and glamour this Ozark community has to offer.  But there is also an authentic, nineteenth century community just 45 minutes to the southwest all dressed up for the holidays, too.  Eureka Springs, Arkansas.

Eureka Springs has the distinction of practically the entire city being on the National Registry of Historic Places.  This village, crafted out of limestone, has maintained its 150-year-old charm yet it loves to dress up during holiday time.

“The shop owners, the hotels, the restaurants really do dress up their businesses and residents their homes for the holidays,” noted former chairman of the Greater Eureka Springs Chamber of Commerce, Jack Moyer, “while our city’s parks department fills in all the gaps with some of the most creative and beautiful holiday displays one could find anywhere.

“Another nice thing is that our decorations stay up and illuminated through the second of January.  For that reason, many hotels offer special rates between Christmas and New Years.”

One particular enjoyable endeavor is walking through downtown at night to see shop windows up close and personal.  The highlight of such a sojourn will be a visit to Basin Spring Park, located in the center of downtown.  Besides the bright, festive aura of the park and its fountain, it displays a full-sized nativity scene in its band shell that makes the perfect framing for this gorgeous representation of “the reason for the season”.  Strolling through downtown at night also allows for a stop in an area restaurant for something hot to drink or that ever so tasty nibble of nourishment.

On the edge of town is one of the nation’s most loved light displays.  It is located on the grounds of The Great Passion Play.  People drive through this trail of lights with the opportunity to get an up close, breathtaking view as they walk to the base of the newly refurbished Christ of the Ozarks that just celebrated its golden anniversary as it sits atop East Mountain.

“And as if the Passion Play lights and the 66-foot statue were not reason enough to visit the grounds,” explained Moyer, “the vista of the city from the lookout at opposite the statue’s base would be.  All the lights of the city below look like mosaic of holiday spirit.”

Moyer concluded, “So many people plan a side trip to Eureka Springs while visiting Branson during the year.  But during the Christmas season, that short shuttle down the trail is enhanced.”

Holiday Season De-stress Rx: Girlfriend Spa Getaway To Eureka Springs… And The Best Deals Start Today!

(EUREKA SPRINGS, AR) — The tree is up.  The house is decorated inside and out.  Special holiday menus have been planned, grocery lists made.  A plethora of gifts has been purchased, wrapped, and hidden away where even Santa Claus couldn’t find ‘em.  Mom is worn out and her batteries are in need of some recharging.  And the best place to do that is in Eureka Springs during a quick, girlfriend spa getaway to Eureka Springs.

Holiday Girlfriend Getaway _ 300

Ladies have discovered that escaping to a nearby resort community for just a few days to indulge in a few well-deserved spa treatments, to eat great meals that someone else prepares, to sip some awesome wine, and to unwind with the simple camaraderie of relaxing conversations with your closest girlfriends is the best way to be your best when Christmas week hits.  This is not a new prescription; ladies have been zipping over to Eureka Springs for just such a mini-holiday Rx for decades.

Adding to the “we can do this” attitude for ladies in need of just a short respite from the madness that the December holidays brings, is the fact that most Eureka Springs lodging is probably at it its most affordable level of the year.  Jacuzzi suites, cabins and cottages at most hotels are offering packages that include lodging, spa treatments and some meals at special holiday prices.

An example of savings includes the 1905 Basin Park Hotel is offering their “62-62-62” package which includes one night in a weekday Jacuzzi suite for $62, first one-hour massage at Spa1905 for $62 and second one-hour massage for $62; a savings of $113, offer good through December 24, 2016.  The 1886 Crescent Hotel & Spa on the other hand is offering the “Best Room In The House” deal.  Any room, any suite (Governor’s, Penthouse, Jacuzzi, etc.) or one of the hotel’s famous “active rooms”, any night -based on availability- costs only $86.86 per night between now and December 22, 2017.

One last thing ladies seem to love when they slip away to Eureka Springs during this time of year is finding that totally unique gift for that very special someone.  Stepping unhurriedly into uncrowded, one of a kind shops full of “just what I was looking for” gifts makes the word stress a thing of the past.

Planning a Eureka Springs girlfriend getaway is quite easy.  One need only go to  Magic… the stress levels have already begun to subside.

Fall For Eureka Springs… It’s Color-full!

Fall color of the Arkansas Ozarks surround this Historic Hotel of America.

Fall color of the Arkansas Ozarks surround this Historic Hotel of America.

(EUREKA SPRINGS, AR) – Every fall in the Arkansas Ozarks, two things happen.  First, the leaves of the hardwoods covering the majestic hills and adjoining hollows morph from emerald green to the fiery hues of orange, violet, gold and red.  Second, seasoned travelers who enjoy seeing this colorful transition up close and personal go in search of a cottage that places them right in the middle of this seasonal segue.  The mountain village of Eureka Springs is well known for accommodating visitors looking for satisfaction on both points with the bonus of unbeatable weather and plentiful events and attractions.

“Arkansas’ fall foliage is recognized nationally as a top ten destination for its color and magnificence with The Ozarks as its crowned jewel,” said Jack Moyer, general manager of the 1886 Crescent Hotel and Spa, a Historic Hotel of America, “and as a further enhancement we have added to our overnight hospitality offering by adding adjacent cottages to our existing, five-story, nineteenth century structure.”

Moyer added, “At the Crescent, we recognized the demand for upscale lodging, allowing couples to travel together, with access to hotel services but guaranteeing the peace and quiet that a natural setting in the woods provides.  And since The Crescent Hotel is blessed with 15 mountaintop acres, known as Crescent Park, we were able to carve out just enough woodland to strategically place our four two-bedroom cottages amid the trees thereby protecting their remote nature.  Treetop cottages surrounded by an urban forest.  The reaction of our guests to these E. Fay Jones-style structures has been consistently positive and complimentary.”

Crescent Cottages are neighbors to their sister property, Lookout Cottage Estate, in-town upscale cottages that are secluded and each with its own unique and historic ambiance.  Both are located within simple walking distance to the historic, main structure of the Crescent offering guests the reciprocal opportunity to enjoy all in-hotel amenities like the restaurants, New Moon Spa & Salon, daily resort activities and the famous Crescent Hotel Ghost Tour.  However, the cottages are tucked away far enough for guests to enjoy the peace and quiet of a hidden mountain hideaway.

For those guests who enjoy a woodland adventure right outside their front door, both Crescent Cottages and Lookout Cottage Estate are located adjacent to the newly opened Harmon Park Loop, a 1.4-mile loop trail for hiking and mountain biking.  The Harmon Park Loop connects to the city playground, its dog park, and links to the city’s master trail system including Lake Leatherwood City Park.
